SC Project Testing

Picture
I have completed testing and tuning with the SC Project  full  exhaust  systems on the 2021 Mt09 and am very happy with the results.

The system is high quality with nice welds and very good fit.    It did include an o2 extender.  The o2 bung only accepts narrow band o2 sensors so for tuning I needed to use an adaptor, for the normal customer this is not an issue.

The instructions are more of a diagram and not really instructions.   The header pipes came not installed to the collector with no markings for location.  It took me several tries to get the header put together properly on the work bench.   I installed the header on the bike with it put together but with none of the springs hooked up.   This worked well.  Once the header was  done,  I found the rest of the system straight forward to install.    It is solid with excellent fit to the bike and to the different pieces of the system.

Install took me an hour and 30 minutes from start to finish.   I removed the top radiator mounting bolts which allowed me to slide the radiator off the bottom mount.  I also loosened the bottom radiator bracket  bolt so the bracket could move around which eased install.    The header once assembled like described above was easy to install.  The  header flanges are thick and high quality.   I used new exhaust gaskets but think you would be fine reusing the stock ones as they are very thick.   I used dabs of grease to hold the exhaust gaskets in place when mounting the header tubes.       Once the exhaust was loosely  on the bike , I moved from the back of the bike forward to tighten all the bolts and added the exhaust springs.   Many people do this backwards and start at the front of the bike which can give you alignment issues, especially with a header like this that is not welded together.

My highly calibrated bathroom scale weighed  the stock exhaust at 16 lbs with the  SC project CR-T  weighing in at 8  lbs with all the hardware for a savings of 8  lbs.   Nice!

The CR-T has no db killer but the S1 has a removable  DB killer that made a nice decrease in noise level, dyno run below .  The CR-T is one of the louder exhausts I have tested.  The S1 without the DB killer is also loud but slightly less so than the CR-T.  The 2 systems are identical except for the canister.

First dyno run  is the stock bike vs  SC Project exhaust with stock ecu (no tuning):    Nice gains across the range with only a small area barely  below the stock bike.  I started with the CR-T canister mounted

next lets look at  the SC Project  with stock ecu (no tuning) vs the  SC project  with my flash.    Even more gains across the board
Picture
Now lets compare the  stock bike  vs   the  SC project exhaust and my flash.    Really impressive gains across almost the entire range with no areas below the stock bike!
Picture
I know from experience that changing canister styles does not affect power output or tuning requirements but people always question it so....below is the dyno run CR-T canister vs the S1 canister.

Picture
Then I put the DB killer in the S1 canister test how much power is lost.   Looking at the design I expected a fairly decent drop in power but it was not as bad as I thought it may be.   I do have a DB killer in specific tune, IF YOU ARE ONLY  going to run the exhaust with the db killer installed.   I do not recommend running the DB killer in tune with the DB killer removed.

Picture
Next I tested the exhaust with the DNA stage 2 filter   vs my airbox mod with sprint filter.      If you have looked at my other testing results you will be used to seeing this pattern.   The DNA lid works better through a narrow range in the middle ( probably the most used rpm's when riding a twisty road) while the Spint drop in filter with air box mod ( see my intake testing) works better at the bottom and top.  The 121.34 that I achieved with the AB mod and sprint filter is my highest reading to date.
Picture
This is a great performing system that is on the  loud side  , it  removes a nice amount of weight from the bike and looks really good.  Nice job SC Project!

SC project testing (CR-T & S1) - FLASHED BY VCYCLENUT

SC-Project is a race tested and race proven Italian exhaust manufacturer. SC-Project uses their MotoGP, Moto3, Moto2 and Superbike racing experience to push the limits and develop the highest level of exhaust performance.

The CR-T, a multiple World-Champion muffler, is the most widely recognized design of the SC-Project exhaust range. This iconic muffler offers performance gains and weight savings, due to direct research and development gained in MotoGP and Moto2 Championships.

Alongside its racing look, the CR-T combines some of the most technologically advanced materials in the world. Proven to withstand the intense heat of race engines, the CR-T is ready to race. The CR-T Exhaust is a race replica exhaust that is designed for the aggressive rider that likes it light and loud.

  • Aeronautical grade materials
  • Large diameter exhaust outlet
  • Bike specific exhaust mounting hardware included
  • 24 month factory defect warranty
  • Race Replica
  • Full system exhaust

The muffler chosen to combine with this full system is the S1, the top in terms of design, accuracy in details and finishes. The output of the silencer is made in carbon fiber. Elegance and exclusive aesthetic mixed with a strong and vivid sound at every acceleration, this is the best choice not to let your bike go unnoticed.

The full exhaust system is made with high-quality AISI 304 stainless steel, which perfectly fits with original lambda probes. CNC machined billet bushings and T.I.G. welding performed in protected environment are just examples of the technologies used to manufacture this product.

The removal of the original catalyst allows an important reduction of the operating temperature and a considerable weight save (50% less) if compared to original exhaust.

This kit is provided with removable baffle: the noise level at 5.000 rpm is 107dB with the baffle installed. Without baffle it comes at 113 dB.
