This page is for information on the latest CP3 and CP4 throttle position and reflash recall
Yamaha has issued a large recall to replace throttle position sensor and to perform and ECU reflash the ecu for 2021 and up MT09 and 22 and up MT10
SHOULD YOU GET THE RECALL?
If your bike is affected, you will receive a notice in the mail. If you receive the notice, you should get the recall
THIS IS GOING TO BE A HUGE RECALL!!! I DONT EXPECT YAMAHA TO REACH OUT TO EVERY AFFECTED OWNER AT THE SAME TIME. THIS WOULD OVERWHELM DEALERS, AND FOR MOST PEOPLE, THIS IS NOT AN IMEDIATE NEED. I EXPECT IT TO ROLL OUT OVER A YEAR OR SO STARTING WITH THE BIKES THAT DEALERS HAVE ON THE SHOWROOM FLOORS. DEALERS CAN NOT SELL NEW MT09 AND MT10 DUE TO THE ASSOCIATED STOP SALES ORDER.
WHAT IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A FLASH FROM ME:
The ecu being flashed by me will not affect you being able to get the recall done. Once the recall is done you will send in your ecu for me to reflash it because the factory reflash will restore the ecu to stock. There is no charge for the reflash but you will have to pay the return shipping.
The reflash can be ordered here to pay for return shipping
ECU reflash/warranty
WHAT IF I AM NOT THE ORIGINAL PURCHASER OF THE FLASH:
Free lifetime reflashes are only for the original purchaser. I usually charge full price for a new customer with an ECU I flashed for a previous owner. Since this is special circumstances, I will put a new performance flash to your specifications for $250 plus return shipping.
Two important things to understand:
1) I will verify the recall has been done prior to me updating the flash. This will be as simple as me doing a part number read on the ecu. If the part number is not that of the new recall your ecu will not be updated
2) This assumes that no one else has flashed it between when I did and when I get it back, Again this is simple to verify. The software will either make me assign another license key to it or it wont.
WHEN I REFLASH THE ECU AFTER THE RECALL WILL THE RECALL CHANGES BE IN THE ECU:
Yes, I can confirm the recall reflash creates a new ecu part number. The new part number will be added to the software by Woolich. I will create all new versions of my performance flash with that new base image, to ensure all changes made in the recall will be applied to your new flash.
ECU part numbers that I have sent into Woolwich for readout:
2021-2023 MT09 B7N-8591A-10 (also -11 and -12)
2021-2023 MT09 SP BAM-8591A- 10 ( also -11 and -12)
2024-2025 MT09 BMM-8591A-50
